TS-464

#1
I currently have a TS-251D and i'm in need of a 4bay as i have maxed out my drives.

I know you don't have a crystal ball but in your honest opinion when do you think a Successor to the TS-464 will be released. Do you think next year or two years time as i saw the video at Computex and it was suggested QNAP are working on something. I would hate to buy now if it will release early next year.

Many thanks and best regards.

To be completely honest, while there’s no official word from QNAP yet, we’re definitely approaching the tail end of the TS-464’s lifecycle. It launched back in early 2022, and with QNAP now showcasing refreshed hardware across other ranges — especially with newer chipsets and more AI/NPU-focused SoCs — it’s fair to expect a TS-x65 or TS-x74 replacement within the next 6 to 12 months.

That said, it’s hard to say exactly when — QNAP often announces models at Computex (as they did this year), but actual release dates can be staggered well into the following year, especially across global regions.

So if your current TS-251D is fully maxed out and you’re starting to feel limited, I wouldn’t discourage you from going for the TS-464 now — it’s still a strong performer, and it won’t suddenly become obsolete. But if you can comfortably hold off until Q1 or Q2 next year, there’s a decent chance we’ll see a refresh with improved connectivity (USB 3.2 Gen 2, possibly 10GbE), a new-gen Celeron or ARM SoC, and better power efficiency.
