Well, I've watched so many of your videos. I think I like that QNAP 253E. Is that better than the BeeStation Plus? I tried the regular BeeStation, slow as hell. I returned it. I have fast, 300 Mbps internet speed. When you are accustomed to that, anything slow is a pain. I want fast speeds. So, in your opinion, is there anything better that’s cheaper? Is there anything significant at $400 other than the Terramaster?
I appreciate your opinion. You know your stuff. Thank you

Regarding your question, the QNAP TS-253E is a solid choice, especially for home or small business use. It offers a reliable experience with strong performance, even with 4K transcoding support (if needed for Plex), and comes with an Intel Celeron processor, which should provide smooth speeds for tasks like file sharing, media streaming, and backups. It’s a good balance of price and performance for users who need efficient storage and value reliability. The QNAP TS-253E also has expansion options (M.2 SSD caching, additional RAM) to boost performance if needed, and it supports 2.5GbE, which is faster than the standard 1GbE.
As for the BeeStation Plus, it seems like you’ve had a rough experience with the regular version, which can be slow depending on the hardware inside. The Plus model is meant to be faster but might not offer the same flexibility or high-speed network options like the QNAP. If you’re used to fast internet speeds (300Mbps) and want your NAS to keep up with that, the QNAP might be a better fit in terms of network performance and overall reliability.
In the $400 range, the Terramaster models are often mentioned, but they typically come with limitations in terms of app availability and ecosystem compared to QNAP and Synology. You can find some deals for models like the QNAP TS-464 or ASUSTOR AS5304T around the $400 mark, which are also solid contenders.
Ultimately, for fast speeds and overall good performance, the QNAP TS-253E is a strong pick. If you want something cheaper, you could also look at Synology DS220+, which offers great value, though it doesn't have the same powerful hardware as the QNAP.
