Ive got a 4 bay Synology DS423+ and use hyperbackup to backup the nas to an external 10TB drive. Ive currently got 4 x 4TB drives in the NAS running in SHR, and only use less than 1tb in total of that capacity.
Could i do a Hyperbackup restore from the external 10TB drive using just 2 of the 4TB drives that are in their at the minute?, allowing me to use the other 2 x 4TB drives then in another NAS
Thanks in advance for your help

Thank you for reaching out with your question about restoring from Hyper Backup. Based on your setup and plans, here's how this would work:
Restoring to 2 Drives in SHR or RAID:
Yes, you can restore your data from the external 10TB drive to a new storage pool created with just 2 of the 4TB drives. Since your total data usage is under 1TB, the smaller storage pool (configured in RAID 1 or SHR) will have enough capacity to accommodate your backup.
Steps to Proceed:
Reconfigure the NAS with 2 Drives:
Remove the two 4TB drives you wish to use in another NAS.
Insert the remaining two 4TB drives and set them up in your preferred configuration (e.g., SHR or RAID 1). This will involve reinitializing the NAS, which will erase any existing data on these drives.
Restore Using Hyper Backup:
Reconnect the external 10TB backup drive to the NAS.
Install the Hyper Backup Vault package (if not already installed).
Use the "Restore" option in Hyper Backup to recover your data to the reconfigured NAS.
Using the Other Drives in a New NAS:
You can repurpose the two removed 4TB drives for your other NAS without issue. Just ensure they are reinitialized during setup in the new device.
