I'd like to upgrade Volume 1 on my DS920+ Plex server to a Seagate Ironwolf Pro 24TB and because my original build has been through so much tinkering I want to start a clean install from scratch. I currently have 3 HDDs, and would replace all 3 sequentially, but want to make sure all the media on the 3 drives is properly copied to the new storage.
Help!

Thanks for reaching out! Upgrading to a Seagate IronWolf Pro 24TB sounds like a solid plan for your DS920+ and Plex server.
To ensure a smooth transition while preserving your media, here’s a step-by-step approach you can follow:
Backup Your Data: Before making any changes, it's crucial to back up your media files. You can use an external drive or another NAS for this backup to ensure nothing is lost during the upgrade process.
Replace Drives Sequentially: Since you want to replace all three HDDs sequentially, you can do this one at a time. Start with the first drive:
Power down your NAS.
Replace the first HDD with the new 24TB IronWolf Pro.
Power up the NAS and allow it to rebuild the RAID (if applicable) with the new drive.
Copy Data: Once the first drive is installed and the RAID is healthy:
Use the File Station app to copy the media from the remaining two drives to the new 24TB drive. This will ensure your media is properly transferred.
Repeat for Remaining Drives: After the data from the first drive is copied, repeat the process for the second and third drives, replacing each one and transferring data until all drives are upgraded.
Clean Install: After all drives are upgraded and your media is safely copied over, you can consider a clean install of your Plex server. This may involve uninstalling and reinstalling the Plex application or even resetting your Synology NAS if you want a completely fresh start.
Verify Media Integrity: Once everything is set up, check your media library to ensure all files are accessible and in order.
