Trying to decide if the ds720+ would be a good fit for a backup nas and a digital signage content management system. Does the memory need to be upgraded to 6 gb? Do i need to add ssd's? Is there a better choice? Appreciate any suggestions or comments.

DS720+ is the most popular 2-bay NAS thanks to its performance and future-proof hardware.
Backups are quite a simple task and could be achieved with cheaper NAS too.
digital signage content management system might be running on VM/ docker or webserver. It will be handy to use SATA SSD in those HDD bays, or simply use NVMe caching in M.2 slots. Upgrading your RAM might be very beneficial too. But you can leave this part for later. You may not need this at the start.
I hope this helps.
