DS220+ NAS Memory Upgrade

#1
DSM v7.2.2-72806 Update 5 or up

I currently have 6144 MB of total physical memory (2 + 4 GB according to Synology). With about three containers (GitLab, Code Server, PostgreSQL) I can already max it out, which makes the system literally unusable.

With the DSM version mentioned above, does this “unofficial memory upgrade” actually work? I don’t want to risk damaging my NAS for nothing.

Hi, thanks for the message. Yes, the DS220+ still supports unofficial memory upgrades on DSM 7.2.2 and later. Synology does not officially endorse third party RAM, but it works in practice and does not damage the system as long as you use standard DDR4 non ECC SODIMM at the correct voltage. Many users successfully run 16GB or even 20GB without issues. Your current 6GB limit is exactly why containers are struggling. If you choose a reputable brand and match the specifications, the DS220+ will recognise it and operate normally.
