4-bay NAS using file and media server, maybe docker container

#1
Hello,
I want to buy an 4-bay NAS with an AMD processor if possible and 64 GB RAM. I would also like 2x 2,5 GbE connectivity and using NVMe SSDs caching. I'm not quite sure if I would like RAID 10 for having performance and data protection or some other RAID version.
I have some experience with Synology NAS but not with other brands but I will learn using other OS if necessary.
I want to use the system as a file server, media server and maybe more like virtalisation.
So I'm looking for some buying advices.
Best regards
Andreas

Thanks for the message Andreas. Based on what you need, the QNAP TS-464 would be the best overall choice. It supports up to 16GB of RAM officially but users have successfully upgraded it to 32GB. It includes dual 2.5GbE ports, two NVMe slots for caching or SSD storage, and handles Docker containers, file hosting, and media streaming very well.

The Intel processor in this model performs efficiently and supports hardware transcoding for Plex or Jellyfin, which the AMD Ryzen in larger units does not. It is also quieter, smaller, and more power efficient while still giving you enough performance for virtual machines and long term use.

For storage setup RAID 5 is usually the best balance between performance and redundancy. RAID 6 is safer if you want double drive protection but it reduces usable capacity.
