I have this service operating successfully but now wish to delete photos from Google Photos without that photo disappearing on the next MARS run.
There doesn't appear to be any option for a backup only a sync action.
Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks, Len

Thanks for reaching out! MARS (QNAP's Multi-Backup, Archive, and Restore Service) is designed primarily for syncing, meaning any deletions in Google Photos could be mirrored during the next backup process. However, if you want to delete photos from Google Photos without losing them on your NAS backup, you could try this workaround:
Change the sync settings: If possible, switch the MARS configuration to a backup-only mode rather than sync. While MARS doesn't natively offer a "backup only" option, some settings allow for "one-way sync," which can help prevent deletions on your NAS when you delete from Google Photos.
Manual Backup Process: You could manually back up photos to your NAS and disable the sync on MARS temporarily. After manually backing up, you can delete the photos from Google Photos, knowing they're stored safely on your NAS.
Third-party Tools: If MARS isn't fully meeting your needs, you might consider using third-party backup tools that offer more granular control over backups, such as "rclone" or similar solutions.

As of April 1 2025 QNAP’s MARS (Multi-Application Recovery Service) to End Support for Google Photos Backup. Search for the press release from QNAP.
My last successful backup was May 25 and it failed on June 1, 2025 with error message "Maybe Google API service is unavailable or the OAuth token has benn revoked. Please try again later or Re-OAuth again."

Thanks for your reply. I I was able to do a one-way sync so that deleting photos from Google Photos does not affect the NAS backup.
