Seeking Advice on NAS Build Optimization

#1
Hello, I’m building a home NAS using TrueNAS SCALE. For streaming Movies and Tv shows and Backups Here’s the build I came up with:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9900X
CPU Cooler: ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III Pro
Thermal Compound: KINGPINcooling KPx
Motherboard: Asus PRIME B650M-A AX II
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws S5 32GB DDR5-6000 CL30
Storage: Netac NV7000 2TB NVMe SSD (TrueNAS SCALE OS), 4× Seagate IronWolf Pro 24TB HDDs
GPU: Gigabyte WINDFORCE OC GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB
Case: Fractal Design Node 804
PSU: NZXT C1200 1200W 80+ Gold
Network: Intel X540-T2 2x10GbE PCIe x8
Controller: LSI Logic 9300-8i 8-Port SAS HBA
Cables: 2x OIKWAN Mini SAS HD to SATA (SFF-8643 to SATA)

My Questions:

Any additional cables or parts I should consider for optimal performance and reliability?

Would you recommend swapping any components for better power efficiency or cost-effectiveness for a home NAS?

Thanks.

Thanks for sharing your build — everything looks compatible and very powerful! Your choice of CPU, motherboard, memory, and storage is solid and should handle TrueNAS SCALE with ease, especially for streaming and backups.

One suggestion: since you have an LSI 9300-8i SAS RAID controller, you might consider Seagate Exos SAS drives instead of IronWolf HDDs. SAS drives can sometimes offer better performance and reliability at a similar or lower cost, which could save you some money without sacrificing quality.
