New to NAS

#1
Hi,

First of all, thank you for your content on youtube.

I have purchased a QNAP TS464 and have been finding it a bit difficult to use.

I have tried to watch part 6 and 7 of your videos however part way through I am getting a little confused. Can you advise how much you would charge to set up the security part and giving access to others for me? I put NA in estimated budget as that is the amount you would tell it would cost.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Kind Regards
Shuaib

Thanks for reaching out! Setting up your QNAP TS464 can definitely be a bit overwhelming, but I can guide you through some basic steps to help get you started with security and giving access to others.

Here are the basic steps to get started:

Set Up User Accounts:

Go to your QNAP Admin Panel.
Navigate to Control Panel > Privilege > Users.
Add user accounts for anyone you want to give access to the NAS. Be sure to set appropriate permissions (read/write, or read-only).
Configure Network Access:

For external access, you'll need to enable myQNAPcloud or set up VPN to securely access your NAS from outside your network.
You can find this under Control Panel > Network & Virtual Switch > myQNAPcloud or VPN Server.
Set Up Security:

Under Control Panel > Security, make sure to enable features like two-factor authentication, Auto Block (to block IPs after failed login attempts), and set up firewall rules.
Consider enabling Encryption for your sensitive data under Control Panel > Shared Folders > Edit.
Access Permissions:

For shared folders, go to Control Panel > Shared Folders and set permissions for the users or groups you've created. You can choose who gets access to each folder and what level of access they have.
If you're feeling stuck, or if you’d like professional help to set everything up properly, I’d recommend contacting this expert on Fiverr, who specializes in configuring QNAP NAS systems:
