Hi I am wheelchair bound and since trying to update DS918+ from DSM 6.2 to DSM 7.1 via DSM 7.0 first Plex no longer works and I can't uninstall to load a fresh install have been sent the following instructions:-

It seems that you encountered a known issue with DSM 7.1.1, you may follow the steps below to resolve the error:

SSH into DSM as root.
Execute the command: cp -af /usr/syno/synoman/webman/modules/PkgManApp/PkgManApp.js /usr/syno/synoman/webman/modules/PkgManApp/PkgManApp.js.bak
Execute the command: rm /usr/syno/synoman/webman/modules/PkgManApp/PkgManApp.js.gz
Execute the command: sed -i 's/SYNO\.SDS\.htmlEncode/Ext\.util\.Format\.htmlEncode/g' /usr/syno/synoman/webman/modules/PkgManApp/PkgManApp.js
The issue will be resolved in the next update of DSM 7.1.1. For the time being, please utilize the commands provided above.

I'm very nervous about trying to do this as I have limited computer skills controlling PC by mouth.

If you're comfortable with having someone assist you remotely, TeamViewer or Chrome Remote Desktop might be useful to have someone guide you through the process.
3. Simpler Alternatives
If you're worried about SSH commands and potential errors, one alternative might be to reinstall Plex from the Package Center directly through DSM. This can often be done without needing to go into SSH and may bypass the issue you're seeing.
Another idea could be to reset Plex by removing the Plex-related data files and reinstalling it. You can do this by navigating to the Plex app settings and performing a reset from the DSM interface.
4. DSM Update Revert (if needed)
If you're still hesitant and the issue persists, you can revert DSM back to version 7.0 through the DSM Recovery Mode or download the DSM 7.0 version and reinstall it, which could potentially resolve any version-related issues without needing the commands.
