Best Nas motherboard

#1
Hi,

im looking for a motherboard(formfactor doesnt matter) that has 6-8 SATA connectors, plenty of power to run Jellyfin immich and some more docker containers. 1-2 m.2 connectors and a nice to have would be a pcie-e slot. IPMI of BMC would be nice but is not a priority. planning to run TRUENAS on it so im going to need a lot of ram.

most of all it needs to be very power efficient, i live in the EU and eletricity is not cheap so something that draw lesss then 30W. I know that the amount of hard drives, pcie cards,... are also going to change the power draw but if the motherboard doesnt have a good pcie power management its inefficient and cant go to lower c states.

what motherboards would you recommend?

ASRock Rack E3C246D4U

Price: ~€200 (check availability locally; it might be slightly above budget in some areas).
Features:
8 SATA III ports.
Dual M.2 slots (PCIe 3.0 x4 for NVMe).
PCIe 3.0 x16 slot for expansion.
Supports up to 128GB DDR4 ECC RAM (great for TrueNAS).
Integrated IPMI/BMC for remote management.
Low power consumption with efficient C-state management.
CPU Compatibility: Intel Xeon E-2200/2100 series or 8th/9th Gen Intel Core processors.
Power Efficiency: Excellent for a NAS with power-saving features.
Supermicro X11SCL-F

Price: ~€200-€230.
Features:
6 SATA III ports (expandable via PCIe HBA if needed).
Single M.2 slot (NVMe PCIe 3.0).
PCIe 3.0 x16 slot for GPU or additional HBA.
IPMI/BMC included for remote access.
Supports up to 64GB DDR4 ECC RAM.
CPU Compatibility: Intel Xeon E-2100/2200 series or 8th/9th Gen Intel Core CPUs.
Power Efficiency: Designed for low-power server environments.
ASUS PRIME H670-PLUS D4 (Budget-Friendly Option)

Price: ~€160.
Features:
6 SATA III ports.
2 M.2 slots (NVMe PCIe 4.0 x4 and SATA-compatible).
PCIe 4.0 x16 slot.
No IPMI/BMC, but excellent for a budget NAS build.
CPU Compatibility: 12th/13th Gen Intel Core CPUs (Alder Lake/Raptor Lake).
Power Efficiency: Efficient with Alder Lake CPUs, but lacks server-grade optimizations.
CPU Recommendations (for compatibility with the above motherboards):
Intel Xeon E-2236/E-2224: Low power, ECC support, and perfect for TrueNAS.
Intel Core i3-12100: Affordable, power-efficient, and offers good performance for Jellyfin and Docker containers.
Intel Pentium G7400: Budget-friendly, compatible with 12th Gen boards, and sufficient for light workloads.
Power Efficiency Considerations:
Look for C-State compatibility: Both ASRock Rack and Supermicro boards handle low-power states effectively.
Use an efficient 80+ Platinum PSU to minimize overall power draw.
Enable power-saving features in BIOS/UEFI.
