Small business + personal NAS

#1
I don't really need a multimedia server (though if available it is nice).

Needs:
1. backup of my data from Google Workspace (both the personal drive and multiple shared drives), Dropbox, and OneDrive on a regular basis
2. if possible, run an email server in parallel to the backup services
3. backup personal data from mobile (photos, files, etc)
4. sharing of personal data with others

I am leaning towards the 2 bay/4 bay solutions such as DS423+/DS 224+/DS 723+/DS923+, but I can't figure out yet which is the most cost effective. I'm looking at something that is either cheap enough for now (next 2-3 years) to upgrade/add to later OR somewhere in the $800 range with 2 drives that I won't have to upgrade for 5+ years

Thank you for the help!!

Certainly, all the NAS models you mentioned, including the DS423+, DS224+, DS723+, and DS923+, will suit your needs. The Celeron-based models have a transcoding chip, which can be helpful for smoother remote video access. Synology's Drive app will efficiently handle folder sync and backups for you. Considering your budget of $800, any of these 2-bay or 4-bay solutions would be a cost-effective choice, allowing you to upgrade or add more drives in the future as your needs grow. These NAS options should serve you well for at least 5+ years without requiring any immediate upgrades.
