I thought you might like to know that after carefully assessing your “setting up your Qnap for the first time” vids, I’ve spotted a gap in the knowledge you’ve provided.
I’ve also identified this gap from an email chain on the Qnap forums.
When trying to transfer all your old nas data to your new Qnap nas via HBS 3 active sync mode, you left out mention of the idiosyncratic issue with the sync set up of the source folder: for whatever odd reason Qnap have chosen, if you attempt to browse to find the folder you want, the whole of HBS3 will hang, requiring a reboot of the whole machine.
You must manually type in the source folder path, only after which will the system find it and present you with a dialog to choose the actual folder or sub folder you wish the act as source.
This is on QTs 5.0.1.
I’ve currently solved this problem on my new TS-664 and ammerrily syncing all my data from old Drobo as I write this.
My thanks again for your really helpful videos!
