Currently Own:
i7 8700/32GB/Gigabyte B365M DS3H/1xGBe/Define Mini w/6x3.5
i5 3470/16GB/Asus P8H77-M LE/1xGBe/Silverstone PS16B w/3x3.5, 3x2.5
Synology DS-216+II/8GB
Background:
Like Debian Linux but want something more turnkey.
Proxmox on i7; ZFS "native" but Samba directly off the hypervisor.
Open Media Vault on i5 with OpenZFS plugin. UI is rather meh, especially the Docker support.
TrueNAS Scale's backup to USB is hard. The Docker support is over done and K3S?
Synology's Docker support is great. Hate HyperBackup - proprietary.
Looking for:
At least 4 3.5 bays
Plex transcoding
Backup PCs
ZFS nigh unnegotiable
Docker support native
QEMU/libvirt support native
Simple, non-proprietary backup(s) (rsnapshot?)
1GBe is probably enough
In short, I want a ZFS-based NAS that also has the capability to run Plex, QEMU/LibVirt, and Docker w/16GB of RAM.
I've been eyeing the ixSystems TrueNAS Mini X (5x3.5, 2x2.5) for $1148. But what O/S?
