If you do not want to share any of this multimedia or access it remotely then the DAS solution indeed would suit you better. Buffalo, Areca and Promise Pegasus make hardware RAID-based DAS boxes. This improves the speeds when transferring files. Alternatively, you can consider TerraMaster budget models. They are cheap and seem to do the job too.I hope this helps.
