People have asked to help with a solution for a boat a few times. Desktop-based NAS models do consume significantly less power compared to a NUC mini computer. Having i7 does help with transcoding. But this function is more popular among those who want to stream video over the internet. For local streaming, you can stream original files or use online transcoding option which will generate a smaller video file version for mobiles devices.Either way, Celeron based models can transcode video up to 1080p.
