What NAS Model to Purchase?

#2
With a built-in DS Video / Video Station app, you can stream and transcode HDR content. In order to stream 10bit HDR via HDMI, you would need HDMI 2.0a ready NAS. Asustor Nimbustor 4bay has it.But streaming over the local network would not need this HDMI, just a compatible receiving device. No problems with an HDR TV and 4K monitor, but mobile devices will unlikely support 4K and will need transcoding. Plex would be too heavy on Celeron based NAS and would require i5/i7 based NAS (672XT/72n) or a NAS with PCIe GPU card like TS-473 / 673. You can also use offline transcoding to create a mobile version of the files automatically, then you can get DS920+/TS-453D and do not worry about transcoding. Also, WiFi6 helps, just not all receiving devices support this.I hope this helps.
