I run a Plex server on a M1 Mac Mini w/ storage on a Drobo 5c, connected via USB 3, which I want to replace. I'm considering a QNAP 464 or 664, and looking at upgrading my home network to 2.5G. From what I understand. 2.5 ethernet would be slower than USB 3.
So, I am wondering if I'd be able to connect the 464/664 via USB 3.2 to my Mini (with an a Thunderbolt 3 adapter) to act as a DAS while also having it connected via 2.5 ethernet into my home network for availability to the rest on my network?
I hope this makes sense and I am thinking about this correctly. Your videos have been incredibly helpful.
