DSM7 is where they try to sell their own drives (Toshiba drives) and scare people. But with a few files altered you can also make dsm7 accept all drives.

Good to note I have flexibility. What about Hyper Backup? Any issues between DSM6 and DSM7 backup files? Can I Create files targeting a DSM6 Machine and then can the DSM7 machine restore the backup?
