Both units can sit on the same network without conflict, and your computers will see them as two separate servers. You can keep the Synology online during the whole migration and even keep it later as a secondary backup if you want extra protection.
Moving your data over is simple. You can open both NAS units through standard SMB shares and copy the folders directly, or you can use Synology tools such as Hyper Backup or Shared Folder Sync to send the data to the UGREEN unit. Most users prefer the normal drag and drop approach from a Windows or macOS machine. It is slow but completely safe.
The UGREEN NASync systems appear normally in Windows Explorer and Finder. You can map network drives, browse folders, and use it the same way you already do with the DS220j. If your PC had moments where it did not see the Synology, that is usually the PC discovery service rather than the NAS, and the UGREEN system should behave normally once SMB is enabled.
