QNAP NAS directly connected to another NAS - how to access the admin page?admin

#2
When you directly cable one QNAP to another, they can share files, but they sit on an isolated network. That is why the second NAS does not appear in Qfinder and why the admin page is unreachable. The easiest fix is to use QNAP’s Virtual Switch feature, which bridges the spare LAN port into the same network as your main LAN.

Here is how to do it:

Use Virtual Switch on the new NAS
1. Open Control Panel → Network & Virtual Switch.
2. Create a new virtual switch and add both:
• your main LAN port
• the spare LAN port that the old NAS is connected to
3. Set it to Bridged Mode so both ports share the same network.
4. Apply the settings.

Once the ports are bridged, the old NAS will receive an IP address from your router just like any other device on your network, and then:

• Qfinder Pro will detect it normally
• You can open its admin page directly in your browser
• HybridMount and SMB will continue working

This avoids manual IP assignments and makes the second NAS behave as if it is plugged into your router.
