It has an Intel Celeron N5105 processor with integrated graphics, which supports hardware transcoding for 4K Plex streams. That means it can handle UHD playback much more efficiently than most ARM or AMD-based models in this price range. It also supports 2.5GbE networking, two M.2 NVMe slots for caching, and can be expanded with additional drives later using QNAP’s expansion units.
The Asustor AS6704T is a close alternative and performs well for Plex too, but it lacks some of the backup flexibility and hybrid sync tools that QNAP provides. Asustor’s ADM software is stable and easy to use, though slightly behind QNAP’s in automation and remote replication features.
The UGREEN DXP4800 Plus offers great hardware, but its software (UGOS Pro) is still maturing and doesn’t yet match QNAP’s reliability or app ecosystem for advanced setups like remote backups.
