Ugreen NAS 4800DX - Zappiti Server

#2
Thanks for the message, and I completely get the frustration — Zappiti can be quite picky with NAS SMB access. The good news is that your UGREEN NAS can work with it just fine, it just needs a few adjustments.

First, make sure SMB 1.0 support is enabled on your UGREEN NAS. Zappiti players often rely on older SMB protocols that newer systems disable by default for security reasons. You can do this from the UGREEN web interface by going to Control Panel → File Services → SMB → Advanced Settings, then enabling SMB1 compatibility.

Next, create a new shared folder called something simple like Movies or Media, and ensure it has guest access or a dedicated user with read/write permissions. Use short folder names and avoid special characters, as Zappiti sometimes fails with long UNC paths.

On your Zappiti, enter the NAS path manually in this format:
\\NAS_IP_ADDRESS\Movies
For example:
\\192.168.0.50\Movies

If it still fails to connect, check whether your UGREEN NAS is set to SMB2 or higher only — switch it to “SMB 1–3” compatibility, then reboot both devices.

UGREEN does not have an official Zappiti guide yet, but the same Synology method applies. The only difference is that the SMB settings are found in a slightly different menu within UGREEN’s UGOS Pro.
