Simple NAS Advice

#2
Hi, thanks for the message. If your goal is straightforward storage and media streaming, both the Beelink Mini ME and UniFi UNAS 2 are good options, but they serve slightly different roles.

The UniFi UNAS 2 is designed as a true NAS, with built-in drive bays, UniFi’s management system, and a focus on reliability and long-term support. It’s quieter and more power-efficient than a mini PC setup, but it’s still early in UniFi’s NAS software development, so the feature set is quite basic for now.

The Beelink Mini ME, on the other hand, is more flexible. It’s essentially a mini PC with good hardware that can run TrueNAS SCALE, Unraid, or even simple Samba file sharing on Linux. That gives you far more control over what services you run and often better performance for the same cost.

If you prefer an easy, plug-and-play setup, go for the UNAS 2:

If you don’t mind a bit of setup work and want more freedom, the Beelink Mini ME or even the CWWK P6 NAS barebones is a stronger long-term choice:

Either way, both will easily handle file storage and Plex media streaming. If you’d like, I can suggest a few ready-to-go 2-bay systems that match your needs and region.
