NAS for a small architecture studio

#2
If you can find a used or refurbished Synology DS923+ or DS1522+ in your price range, that’s a great choice. Both have AMD Ryzen CPUs, support for 10GbE upgrades, and handle RAID 5 very well for shared project work. They’re ideal for running Immich, VPN, and light Docker containers, though they don’t have GPU-based transcoding (which isn’t really needed for your workflow).

The DS1522+ will give you more flexibility long term, thanks to the extra bays and expansion options. Pair it with WD Red Plus or Seagate IronWolf drives, and you’ll have a stable setup for years.

If you ever change your mind about brands, the UGREEN DXP4800 Plus or TerraMaster F4-424 Pro are newer alternatives that avoid Synology’s strict drive rules, while still offering excellent Docker support and upgrade options.
