At NAB 2025, QNAP did indeed showcase the TL-D810TC4 as the natural successor to the TL-D800C. It brings several improvements, the biggest being the switch to a faster interface with Thunderbolt 4/USB4 connectivity instead of USB 3.2 Gen 2, giving you much higher sustained transfer speeds. It also includes updated internal backplane design for better compatibility with the latest high-capacity HDDs and improved cooling.
That said, availability is still not confirmed in retail channels yet, and pricing has not been finalised. From what we’ve been told, it is expected to sit a little higher than the D800C (likely closer to your €850 budget), but QNAP will continue supporting the older D800C in parallel for some time.
