Great question. UGOS (the operating system used in UGREEN NAS devices) does not currently include a full-featured Office suite like Synology Office. You can store Word and Excel files and open them via third-party web tools (like OnlyOffice or Collabora, if self-hosted via Docker), but there’s no built-in native editor for documents within UGOS like Synology Drive + Office provides.
As for iOS Live Photos, UGOS does support photo backups from iPhones, but it doesn’t fully preserve the Live Photo animation (the short video part). Like many NAS platforms, it will back up the still image (HEIC/JPEG) but not the motion/video portion unless you use a more advanced backup app like Synology Photos or PhotoSync that explicitly preserves Live Photo metadata and MOV files.
So in short:
• Document editing in UGOS: Limited, no native Office suite like Synology
• Live Photo backup: Still image only, unless handled via third-party app
If document editing or seamless iOS photo support is a big priority, Synology still has the edge there.
