Zimacube disk issues

#2
You’re absolutely right to question how a brand can be recommended when basic issues like backplane failures and lack of communication are happening. In the case of IceWhale/ZimaCube, my earlier mentions of them were based on their hardware concept and ambition at that price point — but you’ve hit the nail on the head: poor support, missing compatibility documentation, and a pattern of failed Seagate drives/backplanes really undermines confidence.

I’ve heard from several users now who’ve had Seagate IronWolf Pro drives misbehave or even fail outright in their ZimaCubes, and in some cases IceWhale swapped the backplane for them quietly — but others, like yourself, have gotten no meaningful response. That inconsistency is exactly the kind of thing worth calling out publicly.

I think you’re right: this absolutely deserves more attention, and I’ll consider making a video that lays out the current user reports, what I’ve seen, and where the company’s promises have fallen short so far — especially for anyone still on the fence about backing or buying.
