First NAS Build

#1
I feel torn between choosing ECC or transcoding, in the prebuilt arena it seems to be mostly choosing one or the other. If I go the DIY route I feel overwhelmed in CPU/motherboard options and those that have both ECC and tanscoding seem to be mostly power hungry CPUs. I came across a youtube video of someone who had a synology with an AMD cpu (couldn't transcode) but was using a Xima board for transcoding. Started thinking pairing a Xima board with a 1522+/1525+ to get the best of both worlds. In looking at power consumption seemed to beat out those CPUs that had both ECC/transcodinng. Is this a smart option or not a great idea? Would love to see a video on this if it is not a dumb idea.
