Ist NAS setup

#2
Thank you for reaching out and congratulations on your new NAS setup! The AS6508T is a powerful choice, and I’m glad to hear your IronWolf 8TB drives are functioning as expected.

Regarding the M.2 SSD issue where one drive is inactive, here are some steps to resolve it:

1. Verify M.2 SSD Compatibility
Ensure that both M.2 SSDs are compatible with the AS6508T. This model supports M.2 PCIe NVMe SSDs (not SATA-based M.2 drives). Check the Asustor compatibility list to confirm your specific M.2 SSD models are supported.
2. Reseat the Inactive M.2 SSD
Power off the NAS and carefully remove the inactive M.2 SSD.
Reseat the SSD firmly into its slot, ensuring proper alignment and connection.
Power the NAS back on and check if it now appears in the system.
3. Update Firmware
Make sure the NAS is running the latest firmware. You can update it via Settings > Update & Restore > Firmware Update in the ADM interface.
Firmware updates often include fixes for hardware recognition issues.
4. Initialize the SSD in ADM
Go to Storage Manager > Disk and check for the inactive M.2 SSD.
If it appears but is listed as inactive or uninitialized, select it and choose the option to initialize it.
Ensure that the M.2 SSD is not set to a RAID group or cache setup that conflicts with the other SSD.
5. Swap Slots (If Applicable)
Switch the two M.2 SSDs between their slots.
If the previously active SSD becomes inactive in the new slot, this could indicate a hardware issue with the slot itself.
6. Contact Asustor Support
If none of the above resolves the issue, there may be a hardware issue with the second M.2 slot or the SSD itself. I recommend contacting Asustor Support for further assistance. Be sure to include the model of the M.2 SSDs and any diagnostic steps you’ve already taken.
