QNAP TS-664 vs Asustor AS6706T

#2
Both the QNAP TS-664 and the Asustor AS6706T offer similar hardware specifications. Both feature Intel Celeron processors, 8GB of RAM (expandable to 16GB), and 2.5G Ethernet connectivity, making them capable of handling storage and media server tasks like Plex or Jellyfin with transcoding support. The noise levels are quite similar as well, with the QNAP TS-664 being slightly quieter in operation.

However, the key difference lies in the QNAP operating system (QTS). QNAP’s OS offers a more robust set of features, including better support for apps, a more customizable interface, and additional options for expanding network capabilities (e.g., adding a 10Gbe expansion card). It also includes advanced storage management features like snapshots and more granular backup options. Asustor’s ADM OS is solid but doesn’t have quite the same range of features or flexibility.

If you're looking for a more feature-rich OS and a slightly higher degree of customization, the QNAP TS-664 might be the better option for you. However, if you prefer a simpler experience and less reliance on advanced features, the Asustor AS6706T could still meet your needs.
