The UniFi NAS doesn't actually support direct Plex server installation, so you won't be able to run Plex natively on the NAS. However, you can still use the UniFi NAS for storage and link it to a Mac PC, Nvidia Shield TV, or any compatible device that runs the Plex server.
As long as your Plex server is running on a device like your Mac Mini or Shield TV, it will be able to access media from the UniFi NAS. Even 4K video should stream perfectly fine to these devices as long as they are directly connected to the Plex server and the NAS is used purely for storage.
So, while the UniFi NAS won’t host Plex, it can easily work as your media storage solution, with streaming handled by your other devices.
