Nas device

#2
Sounds like you’ve got a great start with Plex! Moving to a NAS will definitely make your life easier since you won’t need to keep your PC on all the time to stream your movies. With a NAS, you can store all your movies and series in one place, and it’ll stay on 24/7, so you can access Plex anywhere without needing your computer on.

For a collection like yours (and expecting it to grow), you’ll want a NAS with a good amount of storage. Models like the Synology DS920+ or the QNAP TS-453D are solid choices for Plex servers. Both offer easy setup for streaming, can handle transcoding (so your movies play smoothly on different devices), and allow you to start with a few drives and add more as needed.

Since your movie files are large, I'd recommend starting with 2-4 hard drives (like 4TB or 8TB drives) in RAID for both storage and protection. This setup will give you plenty of space and keep your files safe even if a drive fails.

Once you have your NAS set up and connected to Plex, you’ll be able to stream your movies from anywhere with internet access—no need for your PC. Just make sure your NAS is connected to the internet, and Plex will handle the rest!
