Are there any suggestions on what to get for photo backup with google photos and gmail merging space my wife wants not to pay for google backup. Can I use a NAS to automatically back up the full resolution photos from a few phones?

I would like a simple set up that works and doesn't cost money after I buy the equipment.

WD EX2 would backup all photos and videos from the phones without a need to open the mobile app. All done in the background.But if you want some more functionality like face recognition, GEO and time filter for organising these photos then Synology will do a better job. Plus series (ds218+ etc) would be more future proof, but if the backup is all you need then you can consider value series such as DD218play.I hope this helps.
