Ugreen via Thunderbolt

#1
I can't find reliable information on the ability to directly connect over thunderbolt to the ugreen NAS's that have thunderbolt ports (such as the 6800 pro or DXP480T). There is conflicting info on forums that range from this isn't supported, to this is supported but you need to do a bunch of advanced command line stuff, to it works great). I'd also be interested to understand what kind of speeds can be obtained like this, particularly can you do better than the 10 gbs over ethernet. I bet it would make a popular video by the way. Love the YouTube channel! I contact ugreen chat support and they didn't know and never got back to me!

Hi, and thanks for reaching out. We have actually covered this on the DigiBite channel in a direct connect video using USB4 and Thunderbolt, and the process is much simpler than the mixed forum posts suggest.

All you need to do is enable IP over Thunderbolt on the NAS, then set a manual IP address on both ends. Once the two devices are on the same subnet, the link comes up immediately and you can connect just like a point to point Ethernet link. No deep command line work is required beyond toggling the interface and assigning the addresses.

Speeds will depend on the model, but you can pass the usual 10GbE limit when the link is configured correctly.
