Hi! My research has lead me to the QNAP TS464 8G with 4x WD Red Plus 6Gb drives. But this drive is now a bit older - even the NasCompares Youtube video from April 2024 mentioned that. Is it still decent? Or are there better more up to date options (from other suppliers or QNAP) that might be worth looking at? I'm new to NAS but I'm (relatively) technologically adept. Thanks!

Great choice looking at the QNAP TS-464 8GB with those WD Red Plus drives — it’s still a solid, reliable setup for home use. Yeah, it’s a bit older now, but honestly, it remains very capable for things like media streaming, backups, and general NAS tasks.
If you’re after something a little faster or more future-proof, QNAP’s 74 series is still a great option with more power and expansion options. But the 64 series, like the TS-464, definitely holds its own and will serve you well unless you have heavier demands.
There are also some newer models from Synology and others, but QNAP often gives you more bang for your buck in terms of raw power and features at this level.
