Replacing a dead Drobo 5n

#1
My Drobo 5n died. My problem, not yours. I'm looking for a much simpler replacement. I'm thinking in terms of a 2-bay unit, set up as JDOB (?). I want to treat the 2-bay unit as a single driv e. Want backup scheduled and run from the unit to an external drive connected to it via usb. It primary use will be to host music files (mp3's), and secondary, to back up pc's. Simple is better, as I am not very hardware savvy. I keep finding pros and cons for Synology, QNAP, Asustor, and TerraMaster. Planning on making a purchase this eminently, so the sooner I hear from you would be great. Don't want a dead Drobo and have buyer's remorse. THX.

I understand your need for a simple, reliable solution after your Drobo experience. Synology DS220+: Pros: User-friendly interface, excellent software (DSM), good media server capabilities, and robust backup options. Cons: Slightly pricier than some competitors. Setup: You can configure it as JBOD (Just a Bunch Of Disks) to treat both drives as a single volume. Synology’s Hyper Backup can handle scheduled backups to an external USB drive easily. For Simplicity: Go with the Synology DS220+. It’s very user-friendly and has extensive documentation and community support, making it easier to set up and manage.
