I've got a DS920+ that I am considering as a primary for Surveillance. However, as you know, it is HDMI deficient! Short of getting a DVA1622, is there a HDMI solution for the DS920 that works as well as the direct option of the 1622? Thanks

No, there are only two models from Synology that support HDMI. But Qnap has a majority allowing this.
