I would like to setup my new QNAP TVS-h674-i3 NAS using QuTS Hero (zfs). I would like to install the OS on my two Samsung 500GB NVME SSD drives, and utilize the Seagate HDD's for all applications and data.
Does anyone have a tutorial for doing this properly?
Also, by doing this, can I NOT have the NVME be the 'default' location for my files/apps? I don't intend to store ANYTHING there except the OS.
Thanks,

Yes, it is possible to install the QuTS Hero operating system on your Samsung NVME SSDs and use your Seagate HDDs for data storage. Here's a tutorial on how to do it:
First, make sure that your QNAP TVS-h674-i3 NAS is powered off.
Remove the Seagate HDDs from your NAS and set them aside for later use.
Install your Samsung NVME SSDs into the appropriate slots in your NAS.
Power on your NAS and connect it to your network.
Download the QuTS Hero installation file from the QNAP website and save it to a USB drive.
Insert the USB drive into your NAS and boot it up.
Follow the on-screen instructions to install QuTS Hero onto your Samsung NVME SSDs. During the installation process, you will be prompted to select the installation location. Make sure to choose your Samsung NVME SSDs as the installation location.
Once the installation is complete, power off your NAS and remove the USB drive.
Reinstall the Seagate HDDs into your NAS.
Power on your NAS and connect to it via the web interface.
From the web interface, create a new storage pool using your Seagate HDDs. You can use RAID 5 or 6 for data protection and performance.
Once the storage pool is created, create one or more storage volumes on it.
You can now configure your NAS to use the Seagate HDD storage volumes as the default location for your files and applications. To do this, go to "Control Panel" > "Storage & Snapshots" > "Storage" and set the default shared folder location to the Seagate HDD storage volumes.
By following these steps, you can install QuTS Hero on your Samsung NVME SSDs and use your Seagate HDDs for data storage, without the NVME SSDs being the default location for your files and applications.
