New NAS choice

#1
Dear Sir

Currently I have had a DS1513+ with 5x3Tb in SHR2 for 9 years. I am gradually looking at a new system for streaming (via a TV box), backup, surveillance and downloading (newsgroups, ...)
I was looking at the DS1821+ for a long time, but that didn't seem like a huge upgrade. The DS1823xs+ has now been released, but you have a number of limitations, e.g. choice of HDD and the like.
Which device would you recommend as a good replacement for my ds1513+?

Thank you in advance
Kenny

DS1821+ is several times faster than the old 13+ series NAS. You also get ECC RAM and pcie upgrades.

DS1823xs+ would have no SHR and HDD would be restricted. But you can play with SSH settings to enable SHR and 3rd party drives.

I hope this helps.
