Hello Robbie,
I message you because i need help getting the Plex hardware transcoding to work with my NAS, the Asustor AS6706T.
The NAS has the Intel Celeron N5105 CPU, which supports the Quick Sync standard. My goal (and a big reason why i got this NAS) is to use the iGPU to transcode my media, when i´m outside my LAN and want to watch a movie on my mobile phone.
First i installed the Plex Media Server via the App Central of Asustor. I have a Plex Pass and enabled the hardware transcoding in the settings. But when i watch a movie on my phone and change the resolution, the CPU goes to a 100% and it does not use the iGPU to transcode.
After this, i installed Plex via a docker container, because i thought it would work this way. But unfortunately to this day, i´m still unable to use the iGPU for harware transcoding. It always says transcoding (without the "hw" behind it).
I also made a post on reddit: https://old.reddit.com/r/asustor/comments/xmr6u0/asustor_as6706t_plex_hardware_transcoding_not/
There is a little info on my docker compose file.
Maybe you can help me out, because you test a lot of NAS devices with Plex and their harware transcoding capabilities.
Greetings from Germany and thank you very much.
