Project for Girlfriend

#1
My girlfriend of about 15 months (not living with me): Works as a video editor, from home, with some clients on the side. Her internet options are limited, especially the upload speeds. Being that she works with 4K videos, and collaborates a lot with editors outside of her internal network, she is constantly waiting for videos to download and upload.

Me: Project Manager, Network Engineer at an NYC MSP, with a Synology DS720+ at home, running Plex. A client office recently closed down, and I inherited a a DS918+.

The Goal: I want to give my current 720+ to my girlfriend to use as a cloud sync device, for quick local transfers and unattended synchronization to her cloud services (DropBox or OneDrive). I also need more storage for my Plex Server, so I would be repurposing the DS918+ for that.

Questions: Is Synology Drive able to do this, or would I need to implement an SMB share (she uses a mac) to take advantage of the Cloud Sync? Do you have any other ideas or stipulations about this?

Love your videos, thank you so much for your contributions to the community!

Sincerely,
Willard

She might consider Presto service https://www.synology.com/en-uk/dsm/feature/presto. This allows faster data transfers over the internet.
DS720+ is a 1GbE-based NAS (2GbE with link aggregation). It is not quite fast enough for direct video editing. But uploading and downloading while editing on PC from an internet drive is OK.
TS-253D could be upgraded with 10gbe card and could handle a single 4k editor. But that is an extra expense for you.
Cloud sync will allow copy data from your mentioned providers.
Here is the full info about it. I hope this helps.
