Hi I recently purchased a Mac, but I'm not willing to pay them for extra storage they aren't worth it. So i was looking for a NAS that we can use mainly for backing up our phones at home (lots of photos), and that we can use to backup all the documents in our laptops (also photos).
I also saw in your videos, that you can add apps like docker, or vms, or nodejs, though i don't use this for home use, I just simply have no time to seriously engage but might find just sometime to play arround, and yes i do retro gaming so i'd love to be able to use for emulators. BTW my work is about Data and Analytics, so I don't do video editing, but eventually i can test client server applications.
I was planning to buy a nas with no disk and then buy an empty 5 GB disk, use it without redundancy, and then keep growing in about 5 gb everytime i run out of space so at the end I can have 20 GB.
I was initially interested in the Synology DS920+ vs AS6604T - ASUSTOR Lockerstor 4, synology made sense since it seems to have the most rich catalog of apps and because it was updated to DSM 7. But looking at the Asustor it looks like a solid machine and the 2 ethernet ports plus the hdmi are very attractive.
My LAN is 1 GB BTW, I'm not looking for hyper transfer speeds but definitively don't want to be waiting forever.
So I was wondering, if I buy the Asustor, will I miss a lot DSM 7 and Synology? Is QNAP any good for my case?
Can you help me please choose Thanks
