Is DS925+ with 2 x 8 or 12TB Seagate IronWolf the right choise

I run a small business with Grafical design, Foto and print preperation.

We are 2-3 employies and our data load is app 1-1.5 TB at the moment without backup of our 2-3 workmachines.

We use Google drive (2tb), Onedrive and office today.

Privatly i would like to use plex, photostorage 4 persone iphone with photo sync, music and store private documente.

Is the above the correct choice og is there better alternatives.

Hi, and thanks for the follow up. One thing to be clear about is Plex support on modern Synology units like the DS925+. Plex works very well for local playback, but Synology removed the hardware transcoding engine from the newer Plus models. This means remote Plex streaming is limited, because the NAS cannot transcode video for phones or laptops that need a smaller format.

If you plan to stream only on your local network and your playback devices can handle direct play, the DS925+ is completely fine. For remote streaming, especially when bandwidth is limited, you will want a NAS with a proper GPU or hardware transcoding chip. In that case the closest match in your budget range is a QNAP model from the TS-64x family such as the TS-464 or TS-664. These can handle both local and remote Plex with much fewer limitations.

So the DS925+ is excellent for your business workloads and for local media, but if remote Plex is important, a QNAP with an integrated GPU will give you a noticeably better experience.
