NAS Drive for home and small office of less than 5 employees

#1
Hi,
I'm starting my architecture firm, currently working from home but envisage having an employee within the next 5 years.
I would like to place all my own professional (5TB) personal files (4tb) and work files on a NAS. It is fine to keep both on same hard drive, I can just regulate who has permission to use the files.
This should be backed up on another hard drive within the NAS and then I will have an online solution, probably Backblaze as I already have it.
Please can help outline what I need based on the above.

I am tempted by the Synology DS925+ despite all the recent noise because despite others thinking me a nerdy, I am not really and I believe I would really appreciate the simple UI of the Synology system. And when will it actually be released? I thought it was meant to be today?

Cheers,
Ned

Hi Ned,

The DS925+ with Synology drives is still a fast solution and would work well for your needs. However, I’d personally lean towards the DS923+ as a better choice. It's a 4-bay unit, but it’s the predecessor to the DS925+ and offers 10GbE upgrade potential, which is a nice future-proof feature for higher speeds as your business grows.

One thing to consider with the new DS25+ model is that it only has 2.5GbE ports, which is still plenty fast for architecture projects, especially for day-to-day use. However, if you anticipate needing faster speeds in the future, the DS923+ with its 10GbE upgrade might be a better fit.

Both are excellent options, but I feel the DS923+ offers better flexibility and value in the long run.

Let me know if you need further clarification!
