QNAP Always churning

#1
Hi guys, many thanks for all your vids, it's really help me understand my new NAS.

I have the QNAP TS-464 and loving it, however, it is realways noisy. It's not the disk noise per se that's frustrating, but the fact it's always going, all the time, even if the LAN connection is unplugged.

Is this normal? Or is there a way to set a standby? Or do I need to stick it in a cupboard.

Thanks in advance

Thanks for reaching out, and I'm glad to hear you're enjoying your QNAP TS-464! It's a powerful unit, but I understand your frustration with the constant noise.

It's normal for the NAS to be active, even when unplugged from the LAN. However, you can adjust the settings to reduce the activity. Try enabling the power-saving features in the QNAP settings. You can set the hard drives to enter standby mode after a period of inactivity, which should help minimize noise.

If you find the noise continues to be a problem, placing it in a cupboard or an isolated area can be a good solution, as long as there's enough ventilation to keep it cool.
