Terramaster D8 hybrid

#1
Hello, I have a quick question about the Terramaster D8 hybrid, I know slots 1/2 are used separately with their own raid function, but if set as separate disks could you control all the hard drives even SSDs in a software raid or does slots 1 and 2 specifically need to be separate from the other hard drives even in a software raid? Thanks.

Thanks for your question about the Terramaster D8 Hybrid. Here's how the drive slots work in this device:

Slot Configuration in Terramaster D8 Hybrid:
Slots 1 and 2: These slots can be used independently or set up in RAID configurations (RAID 0, RAID 1, JBOD). They are designed for flexibility, allowing you to manage them separately from the other drives.
Other Slots (3-8): These slots, including the M.2 NVMe SSD slots, can be used as independent drives or configured together in a software RAID setup using external software like Windows Storage Spaces or TrueNAS.
Using All Drives in Software RAID:
If you choose to use Slots 1 and 2 as separate disks, you can still include them in a software RAID configuration with the other drives (slots 3-8). This means you can manage all the drives through a software RAID solution, which gives you flexibility and control over your storage setup.

Software RAID Options: You can use a variety of software RAID solutions, such as Windows Storage Spaces, mdadm in Linux, or TrueNAS, to manage all your drives together, including SSDs. This approach allows you to take full advantage of the D8 Hybrid's storage capabilities.
