The Acer Predator GM7000 1tb SSD is going for around $85 in the US right now, while the Platinum P41 1tb is going for $105. Is the SK drive worth the extra $20?
Anecdote: Some reviews state that the Acer drives use 96L NAND but it seems like the drives that actually shipped use 176L. Is this true for the 1tb models as well?

Platinum p41 is much better. Here is a comparison:
Platinum p41 1TB
Aries TLC PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe 1.4
SK hynix Aries 176L 3D TLC NAND Flash (1600 MT/s)
Read : 1,400K IOPS
Write : 1,300K IOPS
750 TBW
Predator GM7000
PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe 1.4
96-layer TLC NAND flash Micron B27B FortisFlash (533 MT/s .. 1200 MT/s)
Read : 400K IOPS
Write : 1000K IOPS
5-Year / 600 TBW
The Platinum P41 1TB and Acer Predator GM7000 are both NVMe SSDs that use TLC NAND flash memory, but they have some key differences in terms of performance and endurance.
The Platinum P41 uses SK Hynix Aries 176L 3D TLC NAND flash memory, which has a higher MT/s (1600) compared to the Micron B27B FortisFlash (533 MT/s to 1200 MT/s) used in the Predator GM7000
The Platinum P41 has a higher IOPS (1,400K read, 1,300K write) than the Predator GM7000 (400K read, 1000K write)
The Platinum P41 has a higher endurance (750 TBW) than the Predator GM7000 (600 TBW)
In terms of overall performance, Platinum P41 1TB is faster and has higher endurance. However, the price difference between the two can be a deciding factor. If the Platinum P41 is within your budget, it would be the better choice based on the specifications you've provided.
