I'm looking for an automated PC backup solution (4 PC's) that is controlled from the NAS side (as in Synology) without having to configure each PC individually (as in TrueNAs, ASUStor, Aomei etc) My problem with Synology is I cannot find a 4 bay unit with 2.5/10GB network (the home is already wired for 10G) and GPU support for 4K/8K .mp4 video transcoding. BTW, I do enjoy and value your videos, Best regards

For your use case, if you're looking for an automated backup solution for 4 PCs managed centrally from the NAS, I’d recommend Synology Active Backup for Business. This software can back up PCs and servers, and the backups can be managed directly from the NAS side without needing to configure each PC individually. It supports incremental backups, and you can control the schedule, retention, and restore options from the NAS.
Regarding your NAS requirements, while Synology does offer great backup solutions, they currently don't have a 4-bay unit with 10GbE/2.5GbE network and GPU support for 4K/8K transcoding in the price range you're aiming for. The DS923+ comes with 2.5GbE and is one of the closest matches, but it lacks 10GbE support and GPU transcoding. You could consider QNAP for better 10GbE options, such as the QNAP TS-464 or QNAP TS-453D, both of which support 10GbE network adapters and have more flexibility for GPU support (if you’re adding a PCIe card).
For 4K/8K transcoding, the QNAP TS-464 is a solid choice, as it offers hardware transcoding and support for external GPUs, which may be better suited for your media needs compared to Synology.
If 10GbE and GPU transcoding are critical, I’d recommend checking out QNAP's TS-464 or TS-453D series for better network and transcoding support while still managing backups effectively.
